Mossel Bay

The coastal town of Mossel Bay has been named the Kwêla's Town of the Year.

Mossel Bay is a harbour town of about 130,000 people on the Southern Cape (or Garden Route) of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province. Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape Province), and 400 km west of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape Province. The older parts of the town occupy the north-facing side of the Cape St Blaize Peninsula, whilst the newer suburbs straddle the Peninsula and have spread eastwards along the sandy shore of the Bay. Mossel Bay is also home to the Mossel Bay Yacht and Boat Club.

Mosselbay is situated in the the Garden Route, it  is a 300 kilometers ]stretch of the south-western coast of South Africa which extends from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to the Storms River in the Eastern Cape. It has an oceanic climate, with mild to warm summers, and mild to cool winters. It has the mildest climate in South Africa and the second mildest climate in the world, after Hawaii. Rain occurs year-round, with a slight peak in the spring months, brought by the humid sea-winds from the Indian Ocean rising and releasing their precipitation along the Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma Mountains just inland of the coast. The Outeniqua and Tsitsikamma indigenous forests are a unique mixture of Cape fynbos. Ten nature reserves embrace the varied ecosystems of the area as well as unique marine reserves, home to soft coral reefs, dolphins, seals and a host of other marine life. Various bays along the Garden Route are nurseries to the endangered Southern Right Whale  which go there to calve in the winter and spring (July to December).

While the scenery is enough to make you stop and stare, it’s the hidden gems that can be found on the sides of the roads that are the real allure of the Garden Route.

While you’re exploring all the nooks and crannies of Mossel Bay ( the Garden Route) , don't forget to cast an eye out for the properties for sale in the Mossel Bay area that stretch from Dana Bay to Great Brak River.
